PULSE PRELIMINARY SHOWCASE Thursday, July 5th
Dancers participating in The PULSE Preliminary Showcase must arrive no later than 12 noon on Thursday, July 5.

We invite you to perform your solos, duos, trios, and quartets at PULSE Summer Vegas! This is an opportunity for registered dancers to be able to perform in front of a master panel of evaluators. Each routine will receive a written and video/audio critique of their performance. Our panel will choose the top performances from the Preliminary Showcase. The dancer/dancers in these top pieces will:
  • Receive a PULSE Convention Scholarship to another regional PULSE event
  • Learn choreography to perform the Opening or Closing Number of The PULSE Performance Showcase on Saturday (rehearsals will take place Thursday night, Friday morning, and Saturday morning)
  • Re-perform their selected piece in The PULSE Performance Showcase on Saturday in front of ALL PULSE FACULTY

FEES: Solo- $150 Duo/Trio/Quartet- $110 per dancer

OPENING AND CLOSING NUMBER
In order to participate in the Opening or Closing number you must perform in our PULSE Preliminary Showcase. Our judges will choose their top performers and place them into either the Opening or Closing number. Both Opening and Closing number will perform in the PULSE Performance Showcase on Saturday night.

Opening number choreographed by: Ellie Soto
Ellie Soto has had the opportunity to assist, apprentice and work for three different national touring companies since the age of sixteen. She has assisted many choreographers, such as Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo, Tyce Diorio, Gregg Russell, Tessandra Chavez, Gina Starbuck, and Tina Caspary. She has appeared as a principal dancer on Fox’s hit TV show “Mobbed,” The Jerry Lewis Telethon,” and Ariana Grandes “Put Your Hearts Up”music video for Nickelodeon. She has also performed in numerous stage and television shows, such as a finalist for seasons 4, 6&8 on” Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance,” and with Silverlake Contemporary Ballet Company.
Closing number choreographed by: Miguel Zarate
Miguel has danced and worked alongside Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Britney Spears, PussyCatDolls, Davy Havok of AFI, Chelsea Handler, and was a principal dancer in the feature film "Footlose". Currently Miguel is working alongside Brian Friedman, Tiana Brown, and Nanci Anderson as an associate choreographer for "Americas Got Talent".

PULSE PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE Saturday, July 7th
Explore the stage with no boundaries! We invite all participants to perform a piece in front of our PULSE faculty! You must have a minimum of 5 dancers in your piece. If space is still available, The PULSE will allow those performing to add a second piece. No one dancer should be in two routines.
For your convenience, we will also return each faculty’s critiques and notes to you on Sunday.
The PULSE Performance Showcase will run approximately 2 hours and is open to the public. There is no fee to come support your fellow dancers!

All pieces who perform in the Pulse Performance Showcase:

  • Become eligible for PULSE Choreographer’s Pick, where all of your dancers receive scholarships
  • Become eligible for PULSE Featured Choreographer, which is the opportunity for you to choreograph for THE PULSE the next season.

FEES: 5 to 10 Dancers- $250 flat fee 11+ Dancers- $25 per dancer

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • All dancers entering a piece must be registered for the entire PULSE workshop
  • Three-minute maximum length (unless approved by PULSE Staff)
  • You may choose to wear costumes or casual dance attire.
  • Space is limited - first come, first served.
  • Performance submissions must be entered and paid two weeks before workshop start date.
  • All music and movement must be appropriate for a family audience.
  • Music must be edited, labeled and turned in on 2 separate CD’s (one track on each).
  • 50 dancers, maximum, on stage at one time.
  • Crossing from stage right to stage left (or vice versa) during any number may be done on stage. Depending on the venue, there may not be access to cross backstage.
  • The stage is approximately 40 x 30’ (length by depth) and is covered with a professional StageStep marley floor.
  • Entrances and exits subject to change, depending on the venue.
  • General props are okay, and should be able to be moved on and off stage by performers only. Please make sure any props, confetti, feathers, etc. are removed at the end of the routine.
  • VIDEOTAPING is NOT allowed at the PULSE SHOWCASE PRELIMINARY, or any PULSE Performance.
